July 2019 Goals

Having clear goals is key when attempting to make any lifestyle change, and finances are no exception! I’m excited to get started, so here we go:

15 No-Spend Days: During a typical month in the past, I would spend money pretty much every single day, whether it’s online or in person. Fast food, grocery store pick-up, soda drink stops, Venmo, and Amazon are regular offenders of this rule for me. (Notice how none of these require me to get out of my car?) I’d like to limit my grocery shopping to one day a week and I’m trying to eliminate eating out completely. Venmo is used for some local shopping, but mainly for paying friends and family. I think that if I plan ahead, I can do this without too much trouble I’ll check back in at the end of the month with my progress!

$200 Toward Debt: Man, I wish this number were higher. But for now, it will have to do. After paying all the minimum balances on our debt, we will put an additional $200 from our regular income toward our credit card with the lowest balance and highest interest rate. We have an $1800 balance on this one, and it will feel SO good to get it checked off the list!

Make A Family Budget: Who here is bad at budgeting? *sheepishly raises hand* Unfortunately, this has never been my strong suit. But I’m hoping to switch that up. After going over finances recently, I discovered that we spend nearly $1500 on fast food and groceries PER MONTH. How is that even possible to do without noticing? Since it is our biggest offender, we will focus on that for now. By limiting our eating out and going grocery shopping just once a week, I’m hoping to limit our food/grocery budget to $1000 this month. That is still way more than a lot of families, I know. But that is the max, so hopefully I can stay below that. And any leftover money will go straight to debt!

Start Side Hustles: Some of my current side hustles are selling items on Facebook marketplace, my Etsy shop, being a DoorDash driver, and I just started doing transcription for Rev.com. I hope to make at least $500/month using these hustles and it will all go straight to debt.

Let’s hope that with budgeting and side hustles, I can raise that $200 toward debt to a much high number! Wish us luck!
